Students may choose their preferred course structure from the following three options:
Performing /Ensemble Rock Band Skills
Composing / Song-writing Rock Band Skills
Course C comprises
both of the above components (divided into 5 weeks
each).
This is the Academy’s recommended course as it encompasses all the skills required for a successful Rock Band.
Students learn to perform two
classic or modern
rock songs of their choice
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of the following:
- Performance techniques
(chord progression, riffs, tablature, rhythmic patterns, vocal techniques, vibrato, slides, bends) - Rehearsing and band communication
- Stagecraft / performance including recorded performance
- Musicianship
- Contextual awareness
- Group dynamics
Students will compose two
classic or modern
rock songs of their stylistic preference
(ie. preferred ‘rock style’)
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of the following:
- Compositional Theory
- Song writing techniques
- Song structure (verse, chorus bridge)
- Melody and lyrics
- Chord and lyrics
- Part-writing
- Chord definitions
